Autism Bedfordshire Summer Activity Scheme
Autism Bedfordshire summer schemes are fast paced, fun filled action packed days where you will get to see first-hand, the difference we are able to make for families. There are opportunities for over 16s to get involved. Volunteers are given the opportunity to develop and increase their skills and experience, supporting their future career pathways.
Airfield Volunteer Fire Service
Help protect the world’s aviation heritage with AVFS. There are volunteer roles for radio control operators, fire fighters and first aiders within the Airfield Volunteer Fire Service’s award winning team. All roles will provide training for you to be part of the team services at public events.
The Swiss Garden is looking for volunteers to help with developing and running special events held throughout the year. During school holidays, workshops and activity trails for children are available, and events such as outdoor theatre and music take place. Volunteers will provide support including making visiting performers/demonstrators/speakers welcome.
Greensand Country Landscape Partnership are planning a Country Festival to run 26 May – 3 June this year to showcase what people love about the Greensand Country. They are looking for someone to help support in delivering the festival by encouraging participation, visiting potential sites and undertaking a whole range of administration tasks.
Bedford and District Cerebral Palsy Society run ‘extraordinary activities for extraordinary young people’ during the summer with full days of fun, inclusive, creative and empowering activities. These are supported by fully trained volunteers – a role suitable for over 14s with enthusiasm, patience, empathy and listening skills. Experience with disabled children is useful but not essential.
Chellington Centre Maintenance Role
Chellington Centre is a converted 12th century church that works with youth groups, schools and organisations to offer a unique experience away from the school or working environment. They are looking for volunteer support with maintenance related tasks such as fence fixing, furniture repair and preparing log pile for campfire use.
The club is looking for ground assistants to learn about and participate in the preparation of the cricket pitch. Working with an experienced team you will learn to use a variety of equipment, understand the cycle and use of fertilisers and assist in the final production of cricket wickets. An outdoor role for a relatively fit person.
The club is looking for cricket coaches, an umpire and a scorer, for weekend volunteering. Coaches will assist with the youth section and the scorer/umpire vacancies are for both youth and senior games. Volunteers aged 16 and over are welcomed.
The Conservation Volunteers in Bedfordshire
Practical environmental conservation work throughout Bedfordshire and occasionally North Hertfordshire, Milton Keynes and Cambridgeshire. Anything from building fences, stiles and kissing gates to cleaning out ponds, hedge laying, coppicing and scrub clearance. Come along for as many or as few sessions as you like.
