The following volunteering opportunities were added to the CVS Simply Connect platform during January 2025
We have exciting new roles added almost daily onto our system, check out what's new!

 

Bedford MS Therapy Centre

Oxygen Chamber Operator 

Bedford MS Therapy Centre operates 2 pressurised chambers for the delivery of oxygen therapy.

These chambers are used by people with Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's and other conditions to help manage their symptoms.

 

HopeWorks

Winter Nightshelter Shift Volunteer

We need 100 people to volunteer for either morning, evening, or sleep-in-support shifts at the shelter, over the 14 weeks we will be open.

 

The Vegan Society

Community Advocate 

Being an Advocate for veganism with The Vegan Society will mean communicating with people in your local community. You'll share the benefits of a vegan lifestyle. You will form part of a local group, headed up by a local Organiser. The Organiser will feed back your collective efforts to staff.

Community Organiser  

Every month, our Network choose from a range of outreach tasks. These could include town centre stalls, writing to a councillor or MP, sharing our campaigns on social media or contacting local businesses. You're in control of how much or how little you do.

 

Tibbs Dementia Foundation

Cognitive Stimulation Therapy group volunteer   

We offer a weekly Cognitive Stimulation Therapy group in Leighton Buzzard and are looking for volunteers to help out there. You will be setting up and clearing away, making teas/coffees for our clients, and helping support our clients do the activities.

 

Homestart Bedfordshire

Home Visiting Volunteer Bedfordshire   

You would visit a family in their own home once a week for a couple of hours. How you would help them is down to the family itself. The duties range from just talking and listening to more practical support such as meal planning and cooking, reading to the children, going to the local park or finding out about local services.

SEND Parent Mentor

Volunteer Parent Mentors who have themselves got experience with children with SEND offer one to one support for a period of time (usually six weeks) to other parents with children with additional needs.

Trustees Home-start Bedfordshire 

Normal Trustee duties including Marketing Experience, Fundraising, Business skills and Local Council Knowledge. To attend 6 meetings per year.

 

Luton Irish Forum

St Patricks Festival Steward 

As a Steward, you will help ensure the smooth running of the event by supporting the public, performers, and event team. Duties may include: Public Support, Welcoming visitors and providing friendly information and guidance, Assisting with directions around the event areas, Supporting accessibility needs where appropriate.


One YMCA

Play & Learn Session Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to support us at our exciting Play & Learn Toddler Sessions across all of our Children's Centres in Bedford.


East Anglian Air Ambulance

Event Support Volunteer

We are regularly invited to attend events and they provide a great opportunity for us to talk about the work we do. We go to fetes, fairs and country shows, as well as carnivals and sporting events. We take the chance to share information about the charity and make sure we are spreading the word about the work of EAAA.

 

Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire

Practical Conservation Volunteer 

Running Tuesday to Thursday, with occasional Saturdays, our volunteers help staff to repair fences, remove invasive species, cut back scrub clear paths to help ensure both people and wildlife can enjoy and thrive in nature.

 

Embrace

Stampede & JJ's Crew 

Stampede (5-12) & JJ's Crew (13-17) are specialist youth clubs for young people with complex disabilities and a high level of medical need. Activities are fun and varied, ranging from arts & crafts, sports & games, cooking & nature activities, themed sessions, music & sensory play.

Trustee 

If you believe you could add value to our board of trustees, be an agent for change and/or bring an analytical approach to problem solving, we would love to hear from you. We have a couple of opportunities, not essential but to maintain our mix of skills it would be an added bonus if you have a background in people development, technology or legal.

 

Bedford Credit Union

Director

You will gain experience of sitting on a board of directors and help your community with banking services. We have a particular focus on those with lower incomes whose financial choices are limited. We hold a mix of in-person and zoom meetings, generally one per month.

 

NOAH Enterprise

SWEP Night Shelter Volunteer   

SWEP (Severe Weather Emergency Protocol) night shelter volunteer will assist staff in providing a warm space for rough sleepers in the colder winter months. This includes the soup kitchen which runs from 7pm till the clients arrive around 10pm.


Friends of Moorfields Eye Hospital

Moorfields Bedford Hospital Volunteers 

 Some of the tasks we'll need you to complete at Moorfields, Bedford can include leading and guiding patients around the clinics, providing advice and guidance about services etc. and hand-holding which will see you supporting patients come into theatre and offering to hold their hand during their operation.
