The following volunteering opportunities were added to the CVS Simply Connect platform during June 2025

Barnardos (Milton Keynes, Bedford Borough and Central Beds)

Barnardos Stock Room Volunteer- (Sandy)

As a Retail Stockroom Volunteer you will sort and manage donated items, gifts in kind stock and new goods. Your role will be key in organising stock into the differing departments ready for delivery to the shop floor, ensuring our stores are always filled with quality stock.

 

Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity

Volunteer Garden Buddy

This role aims to support people to gain confidence in growing fresh food. It involves supporting a small number of people who attend weekly garden sessions. These will take place on a Tuesday, and are located in the outdoor space at a local residential home in Ampthill.

 

Carers in Bedfordshire

Community volunteer

Welcome and chat with carers at our regular groups and one-off events. Carers benefit from meeting others, feeling less isolated and getting support from others in the same boat as them and from our staff

 

Emmaus Village Carlton

Kitchen Assistant

This role will be based in the companions kitchen, working alongside the cook, preparing and cooking meals for the companions.

 

Forward Trust

Volunteer Peer Mentor - For the Forward Trust 

We are recruiting Peer Mentors with lived experience within the criminal justice system, recovery, substance use or mental health challenges as well as professionals or students studying in these fields, This personal insight and understanding is central to the compassionate, non judgemental support we deliver

FBYM is looking to appoint new trustees to help shape its future supporting children and young people in Bedfordshire to access musical opportunities. Passion and belief in music having a unique ability to improve the lives of young people is important, however, previous experience as a trustee, or musical ability is not required.

Volunteer Charity Ambassador

The Charity Ambassador represents HopeWorks UK within local communities, helping to raise awareness, inspire engagement, and encourage partnerships that support our mission. This flexible, ad-hoc volunteer role is ideal for individuals who enjoy connecting with people and championing positive social impact.

Volunteer Gardening Assistant 

This Gardener voluntary position would require: Either adhoc or regular maintenance of some of the gardens at the supported accommodation properties. Duties to include; Removal of weeds, pruning, tidying, watering, planting, sweeping, cutting grass and general upkeep of garden space.


Leighton Buzzard and District Men's Shed

Volunteer Treasurer

The responsibilities are to manage the bank account, membership subscriptions (the membership secretary will chase late payers), grant income, payments for room hire, reimbursing members for purchases of materials and equipment, preparation of monthly report for trustees and annual report for the AGM in September.

Volunteer Youth Worker 

You’ll find plenty of ways to use your listening skills as well as being a first point of advice for practical concerns that young people face or for supporting them in fun and exciting activities and games. We have our Youth Sessions based in Central Family Hub in Bedford - get in touch and see how you could make a difference!

Victim Support Witness Service

Witness Service Court-based Volunteer 

In this role you’ll support victims and witnesses when they come to court by providing practical information and emotional support, helping them to feel confident when giving their evidence. You’ll need to be able to attend court once per week in your local area during normal court hours, usually 9am to 5pm.
