Volunteer Now! - Embrace

Volunteer with Us and Make a Meaningful Difference
A warm cup of tea made just for you and a slice of delicious cake might seem like a small gesture — but for the Parents and Carers of disabled children and young people, it can mean the world.
Caring can be exhausting, isolating, and all‑consuming. Our well‑being groups offer Parents and Carers a rare moment to pause, breathe, and connect with others who understand their journey. Sometimes, that freshly made cuppa and friendly conversation is the highlight of their week — the little lift that helps them keep going.

Who We Are — Embrace
Embrace is a small Bedfordshire‑based charity supporting families living with disabilities. Established in 1954, Embrace’s mission is to provide unwavering support to families, empowering individuals and ensuring no family member feels left behind. The charity champions inclusive, adaptable support and places empathy, understanding, and community at the heart of everything it does.

Volunteer Stories
Sheila’s Story
Sheila, who found us through Simply Connect, shared:
“Volunteering has given me the opportunity to get involved in the community and feel a sense of purpose. Since starting to help at Embrace, I have met lots of friendly, welcoming people and enjoyed seeing the specialist toy library bring pleasure to the children and families who use it.”
— Sheila, Embrace Volunteer
Her words reflect what so many volunteers tell us: giving time gives back, too.

Laura’s Story
Laura is a Parent Carer who used Embrace’s services for many years before choosing to give back. Now, she volunteers her time at our Early Years and Family Groups, always ready with a warm chat and a freshly made tea or coffee.
Her kindness, reliability, and commitment made a real impact — so much so that she was recognised at our Volunteer Recognition Awards a couple of years ago for going above and beyond in her support of the charity.
Her journey from supported parent to valued volunteer embodies the heart of Embrace: community, compassion, and shared strength.

We’re Looking for Volunteers
If you can spare a few hours each month, you could help by:
  • Making and serving refreshments
  • Offering a warm smile and a friendly chat
  • Helping our Family Support Team set up and pack away chairs, tables, and equipment
If you enjoy helping others feel welcome, valued, and supported, we’d love to hear from you.
To find out more or to volunteer, please contact Ann at info@embrace.org.uk.

Why Volunteer with Embrace?

  • Joining a kind, caring community
  • Supporting families navigating the challenges of disability and caring roles
  • Knowing your time is making a meaningful difference
