Volunteer Now! TCV Bedfordshire

28 May 2026

TCV Bedford is a friendly, welcoming group of people who go out and make a real practical difference for wildlife and for people.

We work on sites around Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas, with transport provided from Bedford. You don’t need any experience, all the instruction and training is provided, you just need to come along and be willing to get stuck in.

From sowing wildflower seeds to clearing out ponds, we have a varied range of sites and projects happening every week so there’s something for everyone. We provide all the tools, materials plus tea and biscuits at break times so you just need a packed lunch, some sturdy footwear and enthusiasm.

Projects run every weekday and Sundays as well, you can choose how often and what days you want to come along. It’s fun, it’s social, it’s satisfying and you get to see a range of fantastic wildlife sites that might not all be open to the public.

Here’s what some of our volunteers have had to say about volunteering with us:

I have felt welcomed and feel like I can call some of the people I have met as friends. Katherine, Chris and Hazel have made me feel part of the team and that the ideas I have shared, have helped.”

“It has been a pleasure volunteering with TCV Bedford. They have made me feel welcomed and a valued volunteer. What I have learnt with TCV Bedford has helped me with my Countryside and Wildlife management course.”

“I really loved using the scythe and especially the trimmer as these were tools I had never had the opportunity of using before.”

“I would certainly continue to volunteer with TCV if I was given volunteering days through work as it was a very friendly environment and a great cause.”

Last year, TCV volunteers reported that since volunteering, they had increased wellbeing (95.5% of respondents), felt more confident (86.8% of respondents), were more connected to nature (96.5% of respondents), and learnt new skills (94.2% of respondents).   97.5% of respondents reported that their experience of volunteering was good or excellent.
