Play therapy is a child-centred, therapeutic approach that allows children to express their emotions, process their experiences and explore personal issues that are impacting their wellbeing. As trained therapists we provide a safe, nurturing environment where children can explore issues at their own pace. Play therapy uses the child’s natural means of communication (play) alongside a creative toolkit in order to offer a developmentally appropriate means to help children heal. These arts methods are also particularly effective in addressing trauma because these experiences impact the structure and function of the brain, meaning that verbal processing is not always possible.
